Said Salim Awadh Bakhresa, Founding Father and Chairperson of the Bakhresa Group, started from humble beginnings, as a restaurant owner (Azam restaurant) in downtown Dar es Salaam in the year 1975. Since then, he has steadily and persistently built the Bakhresa Group (AZAM) empire, which now has an annual turnover of over USD 800 million and employs more than 8,000 employees directly.

Managing Director
Abubakar Said Salim Bakhresa is the Managing Director of Said Salim Bakhresa & Company Limited, the flagship company of the Bakhresa Group. He also serves as Managing Director of Bakhresa Malawi Limited, Bakhresa Grain Milling Mozambique Limitada, Bakhresa SA (Pty) Limited, Bagamoyo Sugar Limited, and the Group’s Media businesses.
He plays a pivotal leadership role across the Group’s core sectors, with primary involvement in wheat milling, media, technology, and sugar operations, driving strategic growth, operational excellence, and regional expansion across Africa.
Omar Said Salim Bakhresa
Executive Director
Omar Said Salim Bakhresa, a Mechanical Engineer, is the Executive Director in charge of the Logistic Division of Said Salim Bakhresa & Company Limited. He has over two decades of experience in the logistics & transportation industry. As the head of the most critical service department, his expertise helps the group to function in a smooth and efficient manner.
Yusuf Said Salim Bakhresa
Executive Director
Yusuf Said Salim Bakhresa is the Executive Director of Azam Media Limited and is a Director in the Group of Companies. He is actively involved in the day-to-day operations of Bakhresa Food Products Ltd.
