PM satisfied by Azam investment
Together with Minister of Commerce and industry and other high ranking officials from the Government, Prime Minister Dr. Pierre Damien Habumuremyi congratulated AZAM Industry for its investment in Rwanda. This was on 21 March 2013, during a visit paid to the regional grain milling company based in Gasabo District of Kigali City. After touring the grain milling industry, Prime Minister thanked its management for a real potential investment, cleanness and its contribution to the business promotion in Rwanda. The Premier Habumuremyi urged the Ministry of Agriculture to speed up plan on providing support to Rwanda farmers to allow their production increase. He further urges the factory management to partner with the Ministry of Agriculture by providing appropriate wheat seeds to farmers that the factory process. Almost all the row material used by AZAM factory is imported from outside Rwanda.
Bakhresa group ventures into food processing, beverage and the transport sector. The factory has the capacity to produce 250 metric tonnes per day with a total investment cost of 24 million US Dollars. The company operates in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Mozambique, and Zambia, with a plan to expand to Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
